Safety Manager

Job Description: Provides and oversees all safety management for the company.

ExperienceMinimum of 3 to 5 years in an industrial, manufacturing or warehouse environment.
Bachelors or Associates degree in Industrial Engineering/Industrial Hygiene.

Rate:  Salaried position with benefits including healthcare, 401k, vacation & personal time off.  Competitive rate is based on experience

Shift Information:  Full Time, Monday thru Friday 7:00am – 4:00pm


We are the largest pallet recycler in Eastern PA using the most modern equipment for all facets of pallet recycling and decorative mulch manufacturing.  This over 35/year old family owned business continues excellent growth year after year.

This position will have a broad range of responsibilities for the Safety and Industrial Hygiene of our entire facility.  You will be responsible for implementing and managing the company’s entire Safety and Health Support program.  You will interface with all levels of the plant’s organization.  The position requires the candidate to spend an extensive amount of time (50-70%) out in the plant.

The Safety Manager works in conjunction with the Human Resources Production and Transportation Managers to ensure that all levels of employees at the company can complete their work safely.  Understands, (sometimes creates) enforces and meets all safety standards for the workplace based on legal requirements and trains employees to help them understand these rules.  Monitors all shifts working conditions and resolves any safety issues that may arise.

To successfully work in this role, you must have an understanding of how the machinery and other equipment in the company operates.


  • Manage all safety training programs and plans to include safe operation of any piece of equipment including periodic recertifications
  • Conduct Safety observation reports on a regular basis
  • Coach and assist all area managers in the execution of daily management of any/all safety programs
  • Train all employees in a safe healthy manner on how to do their particular job
  • Make regular safety walks and inspections before or during each shift to analyze safety risks
  • Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machinery operation
  • Run annual corporate safety meeting
  • Manage a safety team meeting group
  • Maintain documentation of the company’s safety procedures, accidents and related events
  • Responsible for compiling and providing all documentation for any S&H related legal claims
  • Conduct safety fleet inspections to insure all equipment in trucks meet corporate and all state and federal rules.
  • Inspect, audit and monitor production equipment, work areas and work practices and procedures for compliance with newly established health and safety rules and regulations
  • Provide technical assistance in helping with the resolution of safety issues
  • Write up all incident and accident reports and distribute them to proper recipients and maintain all safety records for the company.

  • Maintain accurate plant safety statistics and incident rates/types and report to management
  • Must be available to respond to any shift incidents that may occur
  • Investigate workplace mishaps and accidents to take immediate corrective action to eliminate re-occurrences
  • Assist Management as needed once safety obligations are completed


  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in health and safety or related field preferred
  • Registration as a Certified Safety Professional or similar form of licensure as a safety officer such as COSS
  • Experience with Power Point, Excel and auditor safety software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must
  • Stay up to date and understand Federal, state and city safety requirements including workman’s comp and OSHA as well as maintain records and track any reports for each
  • Must be able to walk an OSHA inspection be able to provide documents requested and answer any OSHA related safety questions.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects and prioritize while still meeting deadlines
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers
  • Leadership skills, such as the ability to motivate a team and provide feedback.
